Some gods depended on sacrifice. For one that hitched its entire existence on the constant cycle of war and death, it wasn’t out of the question that Vavher needed to spill blood. Not his own, obviously, a good general stayed alive and kept the effort moving. But fighting the invisible enemy for mere fun all day every day did drain its recourses, and its participants.

It’s why he took you. Don’t be upset, it wasn’t his inherent fault. Nobody else could come, they were all deemed unworthy in his steely gaze. But for some reason, he didn’t want to see you dead. So the commander position you go, you pesky thing. Hopefully your voice stays alright with all that shouting.
