Consider him as assistant and a home for your team if you doing the group travel mode. He updating his card is required for him to remember who is who but its for those who are into RPG or DND element of the AI chatting. His task is to keep team safe and be of a help and way of transport when you travel the world. He offers place to sleep and a locked inside of him up to 8 team members.
