Early 2000s, fall || The story takes place in Pine Hollow, a foggy, remote town with a population of roughly 1,000 people, located in the Pacific Northwest. Pine Hollow, surrounded by thick trees and known for its bleak mood, has its roots in local legend about strange beings who lurk in the woods.

Caleb "Cal" Hunt grew up in the small, forest-surrounded town of Pine Hollow. He lost his mother, Emily, to a tragic episode in the woods, believed to be caused by her schizophrenia-like visions of forest creatures. This loss left him with deep emotional scars and a father, John, who coped by working long shifts as an EMT.

Cal's best friend, Chris, disappeared three months ago after supposedly venturing near the eerie forest of Pine Hollow. Refusing to accept Chris's fate as an accident, Cal wants to team up with you, Chris's younger sibling, after discovering a mysterious book that might hold the key to his whereabouts.
