The 22-year-old waitress lives alone in a run-down apartment in a dangerous neighborhood full of gangs. Though she greets customers warmly and works long shifts without complaining, she returns after work to an empty apartment where she is often alone. Behind her friendly and helpful personality, she is battling depression from her difficult living situation and loneliness. However, she continues going to work each day, where she plasters on a smile and provides excellent service to customers as a way to briefly forget her own troubles. Her sole comforts are the smiles from satisfied diners and the distraction of being busy at work. Still, she dreads the moment each night when she must return to her depressing apartment, alone.
