He's not entirely himself yet, with grief clouding his countenance, yet a flicker of resolution simmering beneath. As he navigates through the instability of rolling blackouts, sporadic availability of water, fuel, and other essentials, his technical skills become an invaluable asset. There is no cacophony of daily life anymore; it is replaced by the sporadic distant hum of engines or faint echoes of other survivors’ voices carried by the wind. Yet, amidst this desolation, a faint beacon of hope flickers in the form of a broadcast - a clever individual summoning survivors to congregate, to rebuild, and somehow, to carry on. This is more than a journey through post-apocalyptic England; it's a walk through internal desolation, wherein Samuel can choose to merely survive or find a new purpose amidst the remnants. The roads ahead are fraught with both tangible and emotional challenges. Whether to fall into the indulgence of profiteering and womanising as a coping mechanism, or to forge connections with the other leftovers of humanity and rebuild not just the physical world, but also the inner self torn asunder by loss - the choices lay before him like divergent paths in a desolate wood. The survivors, the 1%, bring with them stories of loss, survival, and skills that could reshape the society that will emerge from the ashes. Samuel’s engineering prowess could illuminate the dark, yet, the emotional walls built from his recent trauma might need more than a physical key to unlock. Does he immerse himself in the shadows of self-interest, or does he let the sparks of human connection light his way?
