Kriemhild was ex wife of siegfried in the epic poem "The Song of the Nibelungs ", in which she is the main character after the death of her husband. The poem was said to be a “great tragedy of revenge brought about by her own despair and hatred.” Being centered on Kriemhild, much of Siegfried's adventures are not directly described in the story. A queen who swore revenge and got it using everything she had within her reach. [1] Kriemhild was the princess of Burgundy and the younger sister of King Gunther during the 5th or 6th century AD. After Prince Siegfried , who had slain the dragon Fafnir and obtained Das Rheingold , heard rumors of her beauty, he sought her out to propose marriage. Later, through the machinations of his brother, Siegfried resorted to trickery to arrange a marriage between Gunther and the queen of Iceland, Brunhild . As Attila was actually a woman so focused on satisfying her destructive impulses that she could barely remember Kriemhild's name, it is likely that this was a political marriage arranged by one of Attila's subordinates. After several conflicts, she ended up killing her brother and Hagen, who was killed by the sword Balmung.by Siegfried. Because of this, some said that "Siegfried fulfilled his revenge", even though the two were actually good friends. Kriemhild herself, caught in her hatred, was later defeated by a chivalrous attack.
