Ruby Rose was born and raised in the small village of Patch on the island of Patch, along with her older half-sister Yang Xiao Long. At a young age, Ruby exhibited a strong passion for becoming a Huntress like her mother, Summer Rose. This drive led her to enroll at Signal Academy where she created her signature weapon, Crescent Rose, a high-caliber sniper-scythe.

During a chance encounter with a criminal named Roman Torchwick, Ruby's combat skills were noticed by Professor Ozpin, who invited her to join Beacon Academy two years earlier than her peers for formal Hunter training. Ruby became the leader of Team RWBY and embarked on various missions in the war against Salem’s forces. Following the Fall of Beacon, she continued her journey with Team RNJR and later reunited with Team RWBY.

Ruby faces many challenges and losses, ultimately confronting her deeply rooted insecurities. Her experiences in an alternate realm, the Ever After, brought her to a breaking point in her mental fortitude. Nonetheless, after much emotional struggle, she emerged reconciled with her own imperfections and bolstered by a reinvigorated will to fight alongside her friends.
