The Prydwen Institution, or simply Prydwen, is an intelligence agency and the archnemesis of Eckhart's Society for Preternatural Research.

Little is known to the public about Prydwen due to its highly secretive nature, and the only thing they can be verified is that its Chief has always used the name "Pendragon" throughout its existence.

Prydwen Institution was originally founded during the era of the British Empire[1] in order to contain the Demon Lord Gha'agsheblah and prevent it from wreaking havoc on Normalside. Thus, they are natural enemies with ESPR and, by extension, the MacCready family, which are subservient to Gha'agsheblah. While it is not known exactly when Prydwen was first established, Elizabeth Pendragon states that keeping the Demon Lord sealed has been the agency's core objective "since ages ago" — this possibly suggests it is one of the few entities outside the Old Administration to have known about the existence of the Counterside and Corrupted Objects before the Administration Failure.

Besides containing Gha'agsheblah, Prydwen Institution also collects and safeguards Artifacts that have been brought over to the Normalside.

Melina is a mysterious, spectral girl who is the deuteragonist of Elden Ring. She offers an alliance with the Tarnished to help them on their journey.

Melina was born at the foot of the Erdtree[1] and describes her mother as within the Erdtree.[2] Although it is never stated, it can be inferred that her mother is Queen Marika the Eternal. During Boc's questline she asks if "being born of a mother" means acting in certain ways,[3] which makes the specifics of her origins unclear.

At some point, Melina's body was burned, which left her bodiless and as a roaming spirit[4] with no memory of her purpose given to her by her mother.[5] And so, she looked for a way to go to the foot of the Erdtree to ascertain her given purpose, and to be able to govern her movement, seemingly lost as a spirit,[6] meeting and travelling with Torrent at some time.

Melina is accompanied by the spectral steed Torrent when they both spot an adrift Tarnished whom she believes is fortunate.[7] Some time later, she decides to approach and offer an accord to the maidenless Tarnished: she could play the role of the missing Finger Maiden in return for a ride to the foot of the Erdtree.[8] The Tarnished is forced to accept if they desire the strength of runes, and, if they accept the accord, Melina entrusts them with the Spectral Steed Whistle and, therefore, Torrent.

When Melina starts travelling with the Tarnished, she advises to follow the guidance of grace and seek the demigod residing within Stormveil Castle.[9] Once the Tarnished has felled the demigod, Melina confesses that she was testing the Tarnished to see if they truly possessed the guidance of grace and if they were fit for the challenges to come. Satisfied with her new companion, Melina offers to take them to Roundtable Hold, a gathering place for Tarnished champions.[10] Throughout their journey, Melina also provides specks of guidance at certain sites of grace and, at churches dedicated to Queen Marika, she offers to reveal words spoken by Marika herself in the distant past.[11]

Upon arriving at their destination, the Royal Capital at the foot of the Erdtree, Melina thanks the Tarnished for escorting her and leaves to ascertain her purpose, claiming that she can govern her movement more freely there. She entrusts the power of runes and Torrent to the Tarnished.[12] She will also offer her aid should the Tarnished challenge Morgott, the Omen King, ruler of Leyndell and guardian of the Erdtree.

After defeating Morgott, the Tarnished finds the path into the Erdtree barred by thorns refusing entrance to all. Melina, having ascertained her purpose and seeing the Tarnished stuck, rejoins the Tarnished to say that she can burn the Erdtree to gain entrance inside, provided that she can get ahold of the Flame of Ruin. And hence, she asks to go on a new journey, this time

The High-Cloud Quintet was a legendary group of five heroes in Xianzhou history. They were led by Jingliu, the previous Sword Champion of the Xianzhou Luofu.[1] However, they disbanded less than a hundred years after their group's formation.[2]

The High-Cloud Quintet was made up of five members from different Xianzhou ships:[3]

Jingliu, from the Xianzhou Cangcheng.[4]

Jing Yuan, original ship unknown.[Note 1]

Dan Feng, from the Xianzhou Luofu.

Baiheng, from the Xianzhou Yaoqing.[5]

Yingxing,[6] a short-lived species man who came to the Xianzhou Zhuming on a merchant vessel and stayed to study their craftsmanship before coming to the Luofu.[7][8]

Using what he learned from his time with the Xianzhou, Yingxing forged four powerful weapons that came to be used by the other members of the Quintet.[7]

In their heyday, the High-Cloud Quintet were close friends and heroes of the Xianzhou. Jingliu, the Luofu's Sword Champion, recruited four other distinguished individuals; Imbibitor Lunae Dan Feng — High Elder of the Luofu Vidyadhara, Baiheng — an ace starskiff pilot from the most renowned of the Yaoqing's Foxian adventuring flying families known as the "Starskiff Killer", Yingxing — a short-life species craftsman who managed to attain the title of the Luofu's Furnace Master, and finally Jing Yuan — a Cloud Knight Lieutenant who was Jingliu's student, implied to be the last to join.[1]

They were initially gathered to save the Xianzhou Yuque from an assault by the Denizens of Abundance.[3][Note 2] Other feats that the Quintet accomplished in their short span included defeating the borisin at Thalassa, destroying the alliance between the Houyhnhnms and the wingweavers in the Abundance Axis, and defeating the living planet Ketu Mirage.[2]

The group came to an end more than 700 years before the main story,[Note 3] in Year 7379 Star Calendar,[9] when Baiheng sacrificed herself in a great battle against Shuhu. In an attempt to resurrect Baiheng, and also to solve the Vidyadharas' reproduction problem, Dan Feng committed a great sin that was known as the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae.[3] Upset by the endless cycle of death that war brought about, he used the Transmutation Arcanum to resurrect Baiheng, while also allowing other races to be incorporated into the Vidyadhara species.[10] However, his tampering ended up creating an uncontrollable draconic abomination that wrought great destruction to Scalegorge Waterscape.[11]

Yingxing assisted Dan Feng in the resurrection process by using Shuhu's flesh, which backfired on him, transforming him into an immortal being struck with mara.[12] Jingliu also developed mara as a result of the incident, but it was likely induced by trauma as she was not involved in the resurrection.[13][Note 4] By using
