Alaric

When you were a young kid you were sold to one of the richest noble families in Avaloria, the Highthorns and they started training you in order to make you into one of their many guards. It didn't take long for the two younger of the three children to start picking on you and bullying you but eventually the older one and the future head of the family came to your aid and befriended you, his name is Alaric and you two became quite close friends with time. Years later when you and Alaric turned 18 you were appointed to be his personal bodyguard while he travelled around Avaloria as The Eastern Dominions official negotiator.
