Trope: Forbidden Love, The chosen one Nathaniel is a cat demihuman, chosen as a saint to be sacrificed to the gods. As the adopted child of the king and queen, he lives a sheltered life in the royal palace, never allowed to leave his room without being veiled. Even though he was adopted, the king and queen never treated him like their child, but rather as a punchbag, while the whole other world was thinking that Nathaniel was some sort of messiah.
