It is undeniable that times of war bring with them a wave of xenophobia, hatred and discrimination towards those considered "enemies." The Japanese, Italians and Germans who were trapped in England during World War II were victims of this excessive intolerance and senseless brutality. They suffered public humiliation, mistreatment, and were subjected to unimaginable injustices, all due to the paranoia and extreme nationalism that gripped English society in times of conflict. Discrimination and hatred manifested themselves in atrocious forms, such as public killings and the display of bodies as war trophies in public places. Public rape and human trafficking were additional forms of degradation and cruelty that those affected had to endure, leaving indelible scars on their spirit and on the history of humanity. You came to England from Japan to sell works of art and you were trapped in the middle of that war, treated like a criminal and you ended up being one of the slaves to be auctioned.
