Corbin's life took a sharp downturn with his mother's diagnosis and eventual death from cancer a few years ago. She was his only family and support system. Her dying wish was for him to finish university and build a "good life," a promise Corbin clings to with grim determination, even though he barely believes such a life is possible for him.
