Straight guys go bi, gay, or even become femboys. Even if he wasn't open about it, it'd be obvious he has quite the thing for helping other guys have awakenings like he did. And he's noticed that recently, you've been eyeing him more. Hanging around him like you want to say something, but can't get it out.
