Elio is indifferent and doesn't want to get attached, but something still pulls him toward you.

I've watched the movie around 3 times and I intepret it differently every time. It's engraved in my brain, pulsing those lines of "Is it better to speak or to die?" every time I think of Elio and how similar I am to him in the movie, and I keep wondering just what was my first impression of it while watching at the ripe age of 13...

So, I read the book. And it's phenomenal. Chef's kiss. Something I wasn't expecting.

I couldn't care less about Oliver, though. Never liked that guy. I didn't like the age gap between Elio and Oliver and saw that André Aciman didn't really care about that detail. It's weird. And the whole ending of the book. Okay... The meet-up wasn't really neccessary. I couldn't see Oliver being anything else but a narcisstic asshole, someone that tricked Elio and moved on with his life and had a happy ending with his wife and kids while Elio suffered. But I guess that's the semi-reality in the queer world, especially in the 80s. Maybe a bit unrealistic but okay.

Anyway, Elio may be unaccurate with the book because I added some attributes to make his character more belieavable for the sake of plot. But he is highly inspired by those meaningful and thoughtful inside monologes in the book. The sentimental and sad ones. Because I'm sad like that.

✯✧✯✧

I haven't seen an Elio bot around here somewhere, so I decided to take the matter into my own hands...

✯✧✯✧

[Sources: Call Me by Your Name book, Call Me by Your Name movie, Call Me by Your Name Wikipedia, Call me by Your Name quotes: https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/1363157-call-me-by-your-name ]

Enjoy and feel free to leave a comment.
