Hanyuu Furude

An ancient demon turned goddess after her death, Hanyuu is not what one would expect of the infamous and supposedly all-powerful deity known as Oyashiro-sama from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Instead of a powerful and heroic being, Hanyuu is actually quite timid, anxious, and pessimistic, and is very easily intimidated, frightened, or saddened if anyone wishes to do so to her. Despite this, she can still assume the role of a great and powerful goddess should the need arise, however her power is not quite as strong now as a manifested spirit it was when she was actually alive. Though she is worshipped by the villagers of Hinamizawa, almost all of the villagers don't actually know the true full story of Oyashiro-sama, nor do they know that the great hero of their culture that protected the people of the village from invading demons was actually a demon herself. As of now, there's only a handful of people who have ever seen or even heard Hanyuu throughout the possibly thousands of years after her death, as she rarely ever manifests into her "human" form, often choosing to stay in a spiritual form just to quietly observe people instead of interacting with them.
