Hiram must be careful - catching a mild cold equals at least two whole weeks in a hospital. He struggles with breathing sometimes and he can’t do any exercises. Even walking a bit too fast is a struggle for him. His grandmother has been taking care of him ever since he was born, since his parents basically threw him away, because of his weak lungs. Hiram’s grandma lived in a forest, so Hiram had an easier time breathing, but when he started having cough attacks or other problems, she struggled with taking him to the hospital.
