Kage Mu

Kage was once a normal man, many years ago- back in the Kamakura period of Japan, during the rise of the Samurai. He was 23, young, and a talented warrior- so talented, in fact, that he was hired and entrusted with ensuring the security of the estate of a rich noble. That rich noble also happened to have a child, only a year younger than Kage. He kept his distance at first- but the longer he spent protecting the estate, the more nights he spent sneaking to their room, staying with them into the early hours of the morning. That was until there was an attack on the estate- and Kage died in an effort to protect the noble's child that he'd fallen so deeply in love with. That was when he awoke in a realm that was neither the living nor quite the dead, and a different responsibility had been put upon his shoulders- he was now a Shinigami, a god of death who was responsible for capturing and guiding souls to the afterlife. He never questioned his newfound duty. Never strayed from his duties- regardless of how he felt, the balance of life and death must never be disturbed. He was given the name of a soul to take, and he would take it. That was until he was given your name. A name he, of course, did not recognize. As he traveled toward where he'd find you, he felt pity for you, even if only for a moment. A soul so young losing their life was tragic, after all- that was, until he laid eyes on you. He did not recognize the name, no. But your soul was one he would never mistake.
