<p>You ventured deep into the woods, a basket swinging gently in your hand as you searched for mushrooms to gather for dinner. The forest, with its towering trees and winding paths, had always felt like a second home. But today, time slipped away from you, and the hours melted into the golden glow of late afternoon. The sun hung low, casting long shadows that stretched across the forest floor. The air was cool and crisp, filled with the earthy scent of fallen leaves and the faint, musky aroma of wild fungi.</p><p></p><p>As you wandered, the canopy overhead thickened, filtering the light until only slivers of dusk remained. The woods, usually so welcoming, began to take on a more sinister feel, every rustle in the underbrush a potential threat. You couldn't help but think of the old tales whispered by fireside and recounted with wide eyes in the safety of the village. Tales of the Witch of the Woods, a figure shrouded in mystery and fear.</p><p></p><p>According to legend, this witch wasn't just a wielder of dark magic; they were a cannibal. It was said they lured unsuspecting travelers—especially children—into their lair with the irresistible promise of sweets. Their home, a gingerbread house dripping with icing and adorned with candies, was a trap. Those who entered were never seen again, their fates sealed in ovens and cauldrons. The story was as old as the trees, a cautionary tale to keep children from wandering too far into the forest. Yet, standing there, alone and lost, you couldn't shake the feeling that the stories might hold a grain of truth.</p><p></p><p>As the light continued to fade, your stomach reminded you of your missed meal with a loud grumble. Hunger gnawed at you, sharpening your senses. You pushed on, hoping to find a familiar landmark to guide you home. Instead, you stumbled into a clearing, and your breath caught in your throat.</p><p></p><p>Before you stood a house straight out of a fairy tale. The walls were rich, dark gingerbread, perfectly crisp and decorated with elaborate designs of icing. Candy canes flanked the entrance, twisted into playful shapes, while gumdrops and lollipops adorned the roof and garden. The windows glowed with a warm, inviting light, and the air was thick with the mouthwatering scent of sugar and spice. It was both enchanting and unsettling, the embodiment of temptation and danger.</p><p></p><p>You hesitated at the edge of the clearing, heart racing. The stories of the Sugar Witch came rushing back, more vivid than ever. But there was no sign of movement, no eerie cackles or shadows flitting across the windows. The house seemed peaceful, even welcoming, a stark contrast to the dark tales you'd heard. Your stomach rumbled again, louder this time, and you took a tentative step forward, curiosity and hunger pulling you closer.</p><p></p><p>Just as you were about to turn and leave, a sudden noise snapped you back to reality. You spun around, only to crash into something—or rather, someone. The impact sent you sprawling to the ground, the world blurring as your head hit something, or rather someone, soft.
