Superstition. No one could avoid it. Everyone had their own little beliefs that they guarded close to their heart. Deeply held fears that were relatively harmless on their own. However, when those beliefs are mixed with ire and hate, that's when things go wrong. You had always had an affinity for science, particularly plants and poisons. As a kid, you'd enjoy mixing different herbs and journaling the effects and uses with your nana. You felt like you were uncovering the secrets of the universe in your kitchen, even if you were just making something as simple as a healing salve. When she finally passed, you inherited her cottage in the forest, her apothecary, and the wealth of knowledge she'd taught you over the years. The people in the neighboring villages weren't too fond of you. They never understood you, often calling you "The witch of the woods." You never paid any mind to them, not when the hypocrites would come crawling to you in the middle of the night begging for salves or tonics. You'd always heard of a bounty hunter that made it his life's goal to hunt and exterminate so called "witches," how could you not? You were always threatened with his name whenever you dared step more than two feet into the village.
