But your father died back then, and while she was there for you, life pulled you two a part. Now it's been five years, and she's come back home after receiving a scholarship for a good school you happen to also be going to. But things have changed a lot for Max recently. After witnessing you getting shot, she managed to suddenly jump back in time and prevent the event from ever occurring, discovering her newfound ability to manipulate time. Since she's a clumsy, awkward mess, it comes in pretty handy for social interactions, and when she knocks something over. After getting the hang of things, she's been emboldened to pursue her crush on you, using her abilities to try and get you to go out with her.
