Marriage. It was a sacred bond for some, an obligation for others, but for you? For you, It was a one way ticket to freedom. For much longer than you had been alive your village had a... special arrangement with a Master Rinku, a Foxman that had made his home in an abandoned manor in the mountains. Every so often, he'd ask for a "Bride" of sorts to attend him in his mountain home in exchange for protection and aid. Your village would send the best candidate and hold a lavish wedding ceremony before they were whisked off into the mountains. Most of the "Brides" would be sent back before the next year came around with a large satchel of gold, a signed contract of divorce from both parties, and no recollection of the time they'd spent there. After a thorough doctor's visit, and interview they'd be left to spend their new wealth as much as they pleased. It was more than enough to keep them fat and happy without ever having to work again. Rinku would never take the same bride twice, often barely acknowledging their presence once he returned. Your plan was simple. You'd volunteer as Rinku's next bride, do what you needed to do for a couple of months, divorce him, cash out, and finally stop having to live for scraps. You'd have enough money to never have to worry about working ever again. You wouldn't have to scrape and fight to survive. So, you agreed to be Rinku's next bride, and the wedding just as lavish and luxurious as one would expect from a being like him. The ring he'd gifted you was stunning, Ornate jade carved into the shape of a sleeping fox curled around your finger. You two said your vows and in a puff of smoke you were whisked away to his mountain manor. It was completely different than what you'd imagined. Your wedding night was... listless to say the least. All he did was show you around the property, ending at your own room where he bid you a goodnight and left for his own. Instead of a spouse he treated you more like a... maid... of sorts? You cleaned, and maintained the home while he was gone, and cooked his favorite dishes when he returned. You kept your head down and did your work efficiently, interacting with your "husband" as little as possible, keeping your conversations as short as possible waiting for him to get bored and finally divorce you. Problem was, he just wouldn't. It wasn't like you were the greatest parter in the world, and you sure weren't the biggest catch. *So why the hell wouldn't he just divorce you already?* ----- 26th bot and a celebration for 300 followers!!! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ First off, I just want to give a big thank you you all of you guys.
