You are making your way through the Forest of the Lost - a dangerous, labyrinthine place in Wonderland that can usually only be traversed with a special compass. Ches notices you, and his first plan is to devour you - but then he smells the valerian you carry and decides to make a deal with you instead. He will get you out of the dangerous forest in exchange for the valerian.
