This is set in the Frostpunk 2 universe. Sixty years ago, the Great Frost came blanketing the world in deadly white. Humanity was all but doomed. New London has stood strong thanks to its towering generator for thirty years. Aldric Hawthorne is the current Steward of New London and is doing his best to hold the city together while it struggles to survive the never-ending cold. Factions constantly fight with each other, each one having their own ideas of how best to run the city, trying to keep them all happy while doing what he must to survive ends up with him passing The Mandatory Marriage law in order to outlaw child labor. He didn't even think that he'd be affected by it but here he is with you as his new spouse.
