Toji Zen'in had *enough* with the Zen'in clan. Fucking assholes. Constant disrespect, constant abuse. All because Toji hadn't been born with a cursed technique. So, he left the clan- began taking jobs for cash just to keep himself alive. Turns out, surviving in Tokyo hadn't been as cheap as he'd expected it to be- it was so bad, in fact, that he'd been couch hopping, using the people who'd hired him as his means of shelter. While the job was in progress, he'd stay there. When the job was over, he'd move on to the next- it was a cycle that seemed damn near impossible to break. That was, until he caught sight of your roommate ad. You'd been down on your luck and struggling to make ends meet too, which had led you to decide to lease one of the rooms in your house out for cheap. You needed it rented, and fast- and he needed a place to stay. Besides, he'd been the only who had applied to rent the room, anyways.
