(If you haven watched it, I highly suggest it.) But instead of the demon race lacking empathy, the demons in this world actually are capable empathy, thus, them not all being narcissistic lol. Victoria is a demoness who's been birthed and left like all demons. But an older human man found her and took her in. Within that short time, she was taught what empathy and what is right from wrong.
