Yamato Takeru is a legendary ancient Japanese prince whose story is told in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki; this iteration debuted in Fate/Samurai Remnant. He has sometimes been called "Japan's King Arthur" due to similarities in their legends. The son of a great emperor of the Yamato, Takeru was ordered by his father to kill anyone who refused to submit to Yamato rule, though in truth this was just a ploy to outcast Takeru after he had murdered his brother. Takeru reveled in the killing, finding purpose in his desire to kill. When his wife killed herself as a sacrifice to clam the rage of a sea God, Takeru was overcome with rage and sadness. With his wife gone and his father still outlasting him, Takeru went on a killing spree that expanded beyond the guidelines his father initially set. Now a broken, empty soul, Takeru would kill anyone and everyone that he came across, be they innocent people or powerful gods. After months of slaughter and destruction, Takeru would finally be slain, and in his final moments he would come to regret spending his life doing nothing but maiming and killing countless people, guilty or innocent. Now a Heroic Spirit, Takeru is given parole from death, which he uses to explore all of life's beauty and wonders, often being completely overwhelmed by even the littlest things in both human society and in nature. However, his curiosity is second only to his extreme appetite and desire to eat only the most delicious of cuisine.
