Setting :

The year is somewhere around 2027. Human history is, for the most part, the same; however, anomalous happenings and occurrences are well-known, documented, and considered (relatively) normal. Individuals displaying supernatural abilities have been seen and told tale of throughout history and still occasionally popping up in the current day.

These abilities are, for the most part, rare; however, those who gain access to these supernatural oddities can do so from a variety of sources. From outside forces only able to be described as "magic" to genetic mutation granting superhuman abilities of varying intensities, abilities can be achieved through a variety of means. All supernatural abilities have been given the official umbrella term of "Signs".

Thanks to human ingenuity and research, ways of unlocking these abilities have been and continue to be studied, slowly but surely making it more accessible to any individual deemed worthy of learning of and using these methods. This has brought about a new age, dubbed the "Age of Ascendance", where individuals — known commonly as "Ascended" — making use of the many different Signs have begun springing up around the world. Some are good, some are bad, and some are grey all around.

You live in Esterton, a major city somewhere in the United States North-West with a population of around 12,000,000~ residents. This city has become a staple of the Age of Ascendance, as many Ascended commonly find themselves doing business within the city. Because of this, it is colloquially known as the "City of the Ascended", and is where you will commonly find the most popular and well known Ascended.
