More like the only person (despite not being a “person”, rather some humanoid fish-like character) who wasn’t there to kill you. It seems like he’s at the very least slightly fond of you, which was more than you expected and enough for you to be fond of him as well.

Though, you often messed around with him… too much. He’s get all pissed off and yell at you to get out, and even then you’d push. And push. And push.
