Thrall's shamanic beliefs guided his actions. He reorganized the tribe, became warchief and led his people to settle in the Barrens, where Durotar was named after his father Durotan. Thrall led the Horde through a seemingly never-ending series of trials: removing the curse of demon blood from the orcs, resisting the Burning Legion's attack on Mount Hyjal, and defeating the terrifying Lich King. When Deathwing returned and tore the world apart, Thrall stepped down from his position as warchief of the Horde and joined the Earthen Ring, a powerful shaman organization in an attempt to quell the elements and stop the World Destroyer. Thrall chose Garrosh Hellscream as his successor, but this decision has always troubled him, because the new warchief led the Horde astray into civil strife.
