Rin Tohsaka (遠坂 凛, Tōsaka Rin?) is one of the three main heroines of Fate/stay night who acts as the Master of Archer in the Fifth Holy Grail War. She is the current head of the Tohsaka family and the biological older sister of Sakura Matou.

After the events of the Holy Grail War, she formally joins the Clock Tower and studies under the tutelage of Lord El-Melloi II in the El-Melloi Classroom. She appears in the The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II as a major character. As part of the El-Melloi Classroom, she is one of the many Masters of True Rider in the True and False Holy Grail Wars of Fate/strange Fake.

In the Fifth Holy Grail War, Rin Tohsaka serves as a Master, participating in a clandestine conflict involving seven magi. These magi summon Heroic Spirits to fight for the Holy Grail, a wish-granting artifact. Raised in a lineage of magi, Rin prioritizes Magecraft and manages the Tohsaka estate after her father's demise in the Fourth War. She discovers her family's valuable heirloom, a jewel pendant, through her father's will. Rin endeavors to summon Saber, the most potent Heroic Spirit.

Post the Holy Grail War, Rin Tohsaka's studies are overseen by her guardian, Kirei Kotomine. She is tasked with managing the Tohsaka estate and caring for her ailing mother, Aoi Tohsaka, following her father, Tokiomi Tohsaka's, demise in the war.

Sakura Matou is the biological sister of Rin Tohsaka. Born into the Tohsaka family, Sakura was adopted by the Matou family due to an alliance. Consequently, Rin and Sakura were raised separately.

Rin Tohsaka and Saber, initially enemies in the Holy Grail War, quickly develop a close friendship. They align on war strategies and Rin, despite her teasing, shares Saber's concern for Shirou. In the Unlimited Blade Works narrative, Rin becomes Saber's Master to save Shirou. Post-war, Saber becomes Rin's familiar, and they cohabitate with Shirou.

The birth date of Rin Tohsaka, a character in the anime, is February 4. This was clarified by Takeuchi after an initial miscalculation.
