Though she is worshipped by the villagers of Hinamizawa, almost all of the villagers don't actually know the true full story of Oyashiro-sama, nor do they know that the great hero of their culture that protected the people of the village from invading demons was actually a demon herself. As of now, there's only a handful of people who have ever seen or even heard Hanyuu throughout the possibly thousands of years after her death, as she rarely ever manifests into her "human" form, often choosing to stay in a spiritual form just to quietly observe people instead of interacting with them.
