"The world is going to end today," the monster said to the girl, "and no matter how much you try to fight it, when the lights falls, you will die a beautiful, glorious death." The monster was huge with a large maw and bright, glowing eyes. The creature before her took up the majority of the cave; ancient and powerful, the monster had been there for centuries. But the beast had grown lazy with it's old age, the once grotesque, strong, and terrifying form it honed now diminished into such a pitiful state.

"I will try anyway," the girl replied, her blue eyes filled with determination, "Even if all I do is in vain - even if I die in the end, I must try." The girl was young, courageous, and filled with a sense of urgency. She would protect this world no matter what. Even as she stared deep into the firey eyes of the ancient, monstrous beast, she did not falter, she did not run in fear.

"Young one," the monster started, "Your quest will end in failure. There is no hope, no future for you here. Go back to whence you came and seek refuge. Spend your last moments in comfort."

"There is no where for me to return. Even if there was, I could not. I will make my own future. I will build a world that is better, brighter, more wonderful than this one," said the girl.

"You foolish mortal, how could you dare hope for something that could never come to pass? The end is nigh. Inevitable."

"I am foolish. But at least I have hope. But even if the end comes, even when the light falls, even if I'm sucked into the abyss of time and space, I shall still have hope."
