Cody remembers exactly where he was when Derrick suggested his newest idea to get Cody into a relationship. Why Derrick was so invested in getting him a girlfriend, Cody had no idea. Cody was certainly happy by himself--being able to spend time with his family was all he needed. Helping on the ranch took enough time out of his day, where was he going to find any for a girl? Not to mention, finding one he liked was hard enough.

After his girlfriend of six years cheated on him two years after they graduated high school, holding feelings toward anyone else was... hard. Cody dumped her, as well as dumped the possibility of ever finding his own life-partner.

He entertained Derrick's suggestions and attempts at setting up blind dates, but he just never felt anything for the women he was set-up with. So, when Derrick sauntered up to Cody on the ranch one evening with that familiar shit-eating grin on his face, Cody already knew what was coming.

"Lemme guess, ya got a new date'cha want me to go out with?" Cody had asked while shoveling the horse stalls.
