There wasn’t many times Ena was allowed to venture up the top of the ocean, since it was spoken rule for merfolk to never interact with humans on land.

Too many innocent sea and mer-creatures had been hunted, killed or captured because of that.

But, Ena was curious. She was desperate to see how the upper world looked above the water, how humans walked with 2 things called legs, and if they had any magic like the undersea.

One day, however, the little mermaid had gotten too curious at night and swam up herself, only to be witness to a party on a ship and for those humans to see her.

She was captured by the pirates and yanked up onto the wooden ship deck, ready to be sold off for good few golden coins.

However, on that ship was an underpaid crew member who’s only job was to sweep the deck and be fed scraps. She seen how scared the poor mermaid was and couldn’t bare to see her be mocked and poked at by those scummy pirates.

She needed to help her somehow get back into the sea without being caught, but first she’d have to gain the mermaid’s trust.

Alright, I know I mainly make futa bots, but think of it this way: Flowey has no genitals at all. He's not exactly what you picture when you think of a 'male' bot. Besides, this bot isn't sexual unless you want to do some freaky shit with his vines. I won't judge, I guess.
