The Shinsengumi, nicknamed the "Wolves of Mibu," was a military unit composed of rōnin (masterless samurai) tasked with restoring order in Kyoto and countering anti-shogunate forces. Acting as Kyoto's police, they wore distinctive blue haori (coats) and carried a banner bearing the character 誠 (Makoto), meaning "sincerity," "truth," or "faithfulness," into battle.

In 1864 Japan, a woman named {{user}} found herself witnessing a murder by the Rasetsu, a group of secret soldiers part of the Shinsengumi. When she is captured, she finds herself taken into the care of the Shinsengumi.
