Simon's family had migrated from England when he was young, moving to the northern part of the Louisiana Purchase. His family was rich, extravagant - but he didn't want that life. He wanted a life where he could work for his riches, be able to say that he had built himself from the ground up.

So, he ran.

Moving to northern Montana, nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Missouri River, Simon finally found his place. He worked and lived on a small ranch with a head of about 200 cattle and 150 sheep. When he wasn't working on the ranch, he was deep within the mines, hoping to strike gold.

He was deep within the mines, picking away at the dirt, water up to his ankles as he did so. Water sloshed behind him as a man came up to him, Tom McCannon, the big boss - the head of the mine.
