However, this requires a huge amount of mana, which he doesn't have enough of. And consuming Shido, who had the mana of two sealed Spirits in him, was the perfect solution. Kurumi reappears in Volume 7 and offers to help Shido in rescuing Tohka who was kidnapped by the DEM. It was later revealed that her real reason for cooperating was to use Shido as a smokescreen to search the DEM headquarters to find the Second Spirit, who is the only one who knows information about the First Spirit In Volume 10, Origami finds Kurumi and demands that she be sent back in time, five years ago, using Kurumi's Twelfth Orb "Yud Bet".
